Son of Deodat de Claramunt and Ermessenda de Cardona, daughter of the viscount Ramon Folc I, inherited from the maternal uncle Folc II the viscounty of Cardona. He exploded the salt mines of Cardona. Ramon Berenguer III entrusted the defense of Barcelona against the Almoravids in 1114 during the expedition of the Count to Mallorca. Accompanied Ramon Berenguer IV in the expedition of Almería (1147) and the conquest of Lleida (1149). He was married to Almodis, perhaps the sister of Ramon Berenguer III.
